“So, as you think about how to raise your daughter to be a confident and courageous woman—sure of herself and resilient under pressure—begin by considering there you need to practice a little more bravery yourself. Any time you tip toe around an awkward conversation, allow someone to treat you poorly, avoid taking a risk for fear of failure or let other people’s opinions matter more than your own, you’re missing an important opportunity to teach your daughter how to be brave.”

A little peek into Blaire + Donnie’s family as they welcome home the littlest lady of the house, Camille. Her big sister Catherine is the most delightful, entertaining combination of sugar + spice and I can only imagine the fun Blaire has planned with these two little ladies this Summer. Here’s a little bit of their new normal…
I absolutely love these newborn shoots where we can make big brother or sister feel like an important and fun part of bringing home baby. From my years of working with toddlers, I know bringing home a new baby sometimes brings emotional hurdles as everyone adapts to a new normal, but I love getting in the thick of it with my clients for the day, capturing all of the perfectly imperfect emotions and some of the first sibling connections.
Blaire + Donnie, thank you for inviting me to document your beautiful growing family. Until next time…

“If I tell her I love her a million times a day, maybe, just maybe, she’ll learn: that even in my flaws, my lack, and my mistakes, I gave her my entire heart—”
“If I choose to always grow, maybe she will bloom like a wildflower.
If I make art from my everyday, she too, will create her days full of colour.
If I let my tears fall and always when they need, perhaps she’ll water the earth with an open heart.
If I’m clumsy-crazy and all about her Dad, a beautiful-crazy-love is what her heart will search for.
If I let him forever romance me in the wake of day, she will forever know no less…”
“If I say “I’m sorry”—even when it’s hard, maybe she’ll be quick to forgive others.
If I choose to speak life in vibrant and rich colours, let beige words never settle in her heart.
If I leave pretty love-notes, handwritten on every wall, affirmations will line the depth of her soul…”
“If I choose the uncomfy and forever shake up my ways, maybe she too, will stand to live life bold & brave.
If I take time to be alone & make dreaming paramount to my week, she’ll learn solitude is important and a golden gift to seek.
If I look in the mirror and speak kind and gentle words, she too, will forever know her worth…”
“If I fill our house with flowers, music & sweet loving scents, maybe the silhouette of home will always be warmth.
If our front door is always open to those who are in need, she’ll learn the golden purpose of life.
If I pray out loud and have real conversations with God, maybe she’ll move mountains with her voice…”

There are a handful of my sweet clients of whom I've had the utmost privilege to watch their little families grow from the beginning. I cannot fully express the gratitude and joy that fills my heart knowing that they trust me time and time again to document life--their life. The little personalities of each of their tiny humans that I've watched unfold in front of my lens since infancy--innocent, independent, strong-willed, and joyful. Ellis was one of my very first newborns. Jennie and I laughed together as we constructed a session to document her brand new, precious life--and we learned together, as well. (; Brandon and Jennie welcomed Eli into the world last year, and he couldn't be a more compatible balance for his big sister. And undoubtedly, Ellis is a ferociously proud big sis.
What little girl doesn't love to pick flowers in the middle of gigantic fields?
Brandon and Jennie, thank you for entrusting me with documenting your family, time and time again.
Happy Friday, my friends!
